Getting started
What is Pocket Locker?
A private vault for your passwords, IDs, vehicle papers, insurance, bank details, warranties, certificates and notes. Everything is stored on your phone, sensitive details are encrypted, and nothing is sent to any server unless you choose to turn on Google Drive backup.
Do I need an account?
No. Pocket Locker works fully offline with no sign-up. You only connect a Google account if you choose to turn on Drive backup.
What categories are included?
Passwords, Notes, Vehicle, Identity, Warranty, Certificates and Bank — each with its own form (for example IFSC and UPI ID for Bank, username and website for Passwords). On Premium you can also create your own categories.
How do I add my first document?
Tap + on the home screen, choose a category, then choose a folder — or tap New Folder to create one (for example “My Car” or “HDFC Bank”). Fill in the details, add a photo, scan or PDF, and tap Save.
Folders
Why do I need to create a folder first?
Every document lives inside a folder, so things stay organised as your vault grows — one folder per car, bank account or family member. Open a category and tap Add Folder, or create one while adding a document.
I updated the app and my old documents are in a “General” folder.
That's expected. Documents you saved before folders were introduced were moved into a General folder in the same category, with all their photos, PDFs and reminders. Nothing was deleted.
Scanner & auto-fill
How does the document scanner work?
On the Add screen, tap Scan Document. The page edges are detected automatically and the page is straightened and cleaned. Scan several pages and they're saved together as one PDF. It's free on both plans.
What is auto-fill?
Tap Auto-fill from photo and take or choose a photo of your document. Pocket Locker reads numbers, names and dates and suggests which field each one goes into. You can edit or skip every value — nothing is filled until you tap Fill Fields.
Auto-fill picked up a wrong value.
Auto-fill reads printed text, so small, blurry or angled photos can confuse it. Use a clear, well-lit, straight photo (the scanner helps), and always check the values before saving.
Are my scans sent anywhere?
No. Scanning and auto-fill happen on your phone. Your images and the text read from them are not sent to us. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I crop a photo?
Yes. After taking or choosing a photo, a crop screen opens so you can keep just the document.
Reminders
How do I get reminded before something expires?
Add the expiry date and turn on Remind me. Choose 30 or 7 days before. The home screen also shows everything Expiring Soon.
What's different on Premium?
Free lets you pick one reminder per document. Premium lets you set several (for example both 30 and 7 days before) and add a custom date and time. Reminders for Notes use a custom date and time, so they're a Premium feature.
I renewed my insurance — how do I update it?
Open the document and tap Renew. Enter the new expiry date (and a new photo if you like). The old date is kept in the document's renewal history, and reminders are updated for the new date.
I'm not getting reminders.
Check that notifications are allowed for Pocket Locker in your phone's Settings, and that Remind me is on for that document. On Android, also allow “Alarms & reminders” and turn off battery optimisation for Pocket Locker if your phone offers it.
Using the app
How do I copy details quickly?
Tap the copy icon next to any value. To copy several at once, tap Copy All, tick the fields you want, and they're copied together with their labels — ready to paste into a message or form.
Can I use Light or Dark mode?
Yes. Go to Settings → Appearance and choose System, Light or Dark. System follows your phone's setting.
I deleted something by mistake — can I get it back?
Yes. Deleted items go to Settings → Trash and can be restored for 30 days. On the Free plan you can restore as long as you're under 15 documents.
Can I attach a photo or PDF?
Yes — take a photo, scan, choose from your gallery, or attach a PDF (up to 20 MB each), so the details and the actual document live together.
Security & privacy
How is my data protected?
Sensitive details — titles, numbers, notes, passwords and folder names — are individually encrypted with AES-256 before they're saved. Photos and PDFs are kept in the app's private storage, which other apps can't open, and the whole app is behind your phone's lock.
Can I lock the app with Face ID or fingerprint?
Yes. Pocket Locker uses your phone's own Face ID, fingerprint or screen lock — there's no separate app password to forget. In Settings → Security you can choose when it locks again: immediately, after 1, 5 or 10 minutes, or never.
Can Pocket Locker, Apple or Google see my documents?
We can't — we don't run any server that receives your documents. Your data stays on your phone unless you turn on Google Drive backup, which goes to a private app folder in your own Google Drive.
What if I lose my phone?
If you turned on Google Drive backup, install Pocket Locker on your new phone and restore — everything comes back. Without a backup, data stored only on a lost phone can't be recovered by anyone, including us. We recommend turning backup on.
Backup & new phone
What does Google Drive backup save?
Your documents, folders, photos and PDFs, and the key needed to unlock them, saved to a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive that only Pocket Locker can use. It's off by default, and you can disconnect it at any time.
How do I move to a new phone?
On your old phone, open Settings → Backup and tap Backup Now. On the new phone, install Pocket Locker, sign in to the same Google account in Settings → Backup, and tap Restore. Close and reopen the app after restoring.
Can I move from Android to iPhone (or iPhone to Android)?
Yes. Google Drive backup works across both. On the old phone, open Settings → Backup and tap Backup Now. On the new phone, install Pocket Locker, sign in to the same Google account in Settings → Backup, and tap Restore — your documents, folders, photos and PDFs come across. Premium doesn't transfer between the App Store and Google Play, so on the new platform you'd use the free plan or subscribe there.
How do I delete everything?
Go to Settings → Delete Vault. This permanently erases every document, attachment, reminder and setting on this phone. It can't be undone. Your Google Drive backup (if any) stays in your Drive until you remove it.
Free vs Premium
What's included for free?
Up to 15 documents, all 7 categories, folders, the document scanner, auto-fill, expiry reminders, Copy All, Light/Dark mode and Google Drive backup.
What does Premium add?
Unlimited documents, unlimited custom categories, multiple reminders per document plus custom date-and-time reminders, export of your vault as a ZIP file, and priority support. Premium is ₹349.00 / year.
What happens if Premium ends?
Nothing you've saved is deleted, and everything stays readable. You return to Free limits — if you have more than 15 documents, you can't add new ones until you're under the limit or renew.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play. In the app, go to Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription, or open your phone's subscription settings (iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions).
Does Premium renew automatically?
Yes. Premium is a yearly subscription that renews automatically through the App Store or Google Play until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge; you keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are taken by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them, not by us. iPhone: go to reportaproblem.apple.com and choose the Pocket Locker purchase. Android: open Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history, choose the purchase and request a refund. The final decision is Apple's or Google's.
I was charged but the payment failed or is pending.
If a payment is pending (common with UPI), wait a few minutes, then open Settings → Subscription in the app — it checks again automatically. If a renewal payment fails, Apple or Google will retry; update your payment method in your phone's subscription settings.
I got a new phone — do I have to pay again?
No. On a new phone with the same Apple ID (iPhone) or Google account (Android), open Settings → Subscription and tap Restore Purchases. To bring your documents too, restore your Google Drive backup.
Does Premium move between iPhone and Android?
No. Purchases belong to the store you bought from — Premium bought on the App Store works on iPhones with your Apple ID, and Premium bought on Google Play works on Android phones with your Google account. Your documents can still move between iPhone and Android — see Backup & new phone.
I paid but Premium isn't showing.
Open Settings → Subscription and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you paid with. UPI payments can take a few minutes to confirm.
Availability
Is Pocket Locker on Android?
